It is no coincidence that the University of Antwerp is a partner in the <strong>Young Universities for the Future of Europe<\/strong> network<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A vacancy is available for<span dir=\"auto\"> a qualified organic chemist with a strong interest in medicinal chemistry, motivated to contribute to the fight against cancer and interested in pursuing a PhD in collaboration between the University of Antwerp (BEL), the SCK CEN research centre (BEL) and the National University of C\u00f3rdoba (ARG). The experimental work will be carried out at the University of Antwerp and at SCK CEN.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"437\">This PhD project focuses on the development of <strong data-start=\"114\" data-end=\"154\">small radiotheranostic molecules<\/strong> targeting <strong data-start=\"170\" data-end=\"203\">carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX)<\/strong>, a protein that is highly expressed in hypoxic tumours and virtually absent in healthy tissues. CAIX represents a promising target for expanding precision oncology strategies beyond existing treatments. The work will consist of the <strong data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"521\">design and synthesis of selective ligands for CAIX<\/strong>, using molecular modelling and advanced organic synthesis, which will then be conjugated with chelators for <strong data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"672\">radiolabelling with \u00b9\u2077\u2077Lu or \u00b9\u2076\u00b9Tb<\/strong>.
