The Platform will advise the Commission on issues related to the EU taxonomy and the EU sustainable finance framework in general.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/money-2724241_1920.jpg\" width=\"595\" height=\"402\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following a call for applications in July 2025, the Commission appointed 28 members and 16 observers from both the public and private sectors. The selection was based on the applicants&#8217; expertise in the field of the environment and sustainable finance, as well as their professional experience and technical knowledge of the sectors covered by the EU taxonomy. The Commission also took into account geographical and gender balance. The members are key stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, academia and experts in their personal capacity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the Commission has reappointed Helena Vi\u00f1es Fiestas as Chair of the Platform. Vi\u00f1es Fiestas is a member of the Spanish National Securities Market Commission and co-chair of the United Nations High-Level Expert Group on Non-State Actors&#8217; Net-Zero Commitments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maria Lu\u00eds <strong>Albuquerque<\/strong>, Commissioner for Financial Services, said: &#8220;With this new mandate, the Platform on Sustainable Finance will help us to simplify, clarify and improve the use of the EU taxonomy and the broader sustainable finance framework, without reducing our level of ambition. Our goal is clear: to ensure that sustainable finance works for the real economy and effectively supports Europe&#8217;s transition, investment and competitiveness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Platform&#8217;s mandate will run from February 2026 to the end of 2027. Its work will support the Commission&#8217;s simplification efforts in the area of sustainable finance, in particular the review of existing taxonomy criteria and the development of criteria for new activities.
