The School of Classics at University College Dublin invites applications for a fully funded, four-year Ad Astra PhD studentship in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology, supervised by Dr Matthew Evans.<\/p>\n

The School of Classics welcomes PhD proposals that focus on the history and archaeology of the Greek world during the Hellenistic and Roman periods (ca. late fourth century BCE to fourth century CE). Projects that address one or more of the following themes are especially encouraged:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Digital Humanities approaches, especially Machine Learning, to Greek epigraphy and archaeology
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Human mobility and migration, and\/or the movement of resources, ideas, and material culture
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The transition between the Hellenistic and Roman periods, including processes of political, social, and cultural change<\/p>\n

Projects focusing on mainland Greece, the Aegean islands, and\/or Asia Minor are particularly encouraged, though proposals concerning other regions of the ancient Greek world will also be considered.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology, and\/or Art History, and will be expected to have completed a Master\u2019s degree in one of these fields before the start of the studentship.<\/p>\n
