{"id":164240,"date":"2025-12-17T03:00:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T02:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=164240"},"modified":"2025-12-16T12:42:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T11:42:10","slug":"la-ue-y-montenegro-avanzan-en-las-negociaciones-de-adhesion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/la-ue-y-montenegro-avanzan-en-las-negociaciones-de-adhesion\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and Montenegro make progress in accession negotiations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 24th meeting of the Accession Conference with Montenegro last December 16 provisionally closed accession negotiations on chapters <strong>3<\/strong> (right of establishment and freedom to provide services), <strong>4<\/strong> (free movement of capital), <strong>6<\/strong> (company law), <strong>11<\/strong> (agriculture and rural development) and <strong>13<\/strong> (fisheries).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/montenegro-162363_1280.webp\" width=\"486\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If necessary, the EU will revert to these chapters in due course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chapter 5 on public procurement was already provisionally closed at an earlier Accession Conference on 27 June 2025. Progress on alignment with the EU acquis, as well as on its implementation, will continue to be monitored throughout the negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Montenegro has <strong>opened all 33 negotiating chapters<\/strong> in its EU accession negotiations. With the provisional closure agreed today, <strong>12 of these chapters have now been provisionally closed.<\/strong> According to the negotiating principles endorsed by the Accession Conference, agreements reached in the course of the negotiations on specific, even partial, chapters cannot be considered final until an overall agreement on all chapters has been reached.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Union delegation was led by the Danish Minister for European Affairs, Marie Bjerre, on behalf of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the participation of Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
