By combining evolutionary insights with state-of-the-art genomic tools, EvoMG-DN seeks to establish EvoMG as a structured and impactful discipline in Europe. The network aims to train the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers to unlock the full potential of evolutionary genomic approaches in healthcare. The consortium includes 22 participating organisations, and the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, UK is one of the partner. The PhD studentship for this project will be funded via HORIZON-MSCA-2024-DN-01 award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The student will work on the project &#8220;Towards non-invasive monitoring and prediction of cancer evolutionary dynamics from cfDNA&#8221; under the guidance of\u00a0Prof. Trevor Graham\u00a0at the ICR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Project aims<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Develop a sequencing approach to detect mutations and methylation in cfDNA from cancer patients<\/li>\n<li>Build computational tools to interpret methylation profiles from cfDNA<\/li>\n<li>Use sequencing to reconstruct clonal dynamics through treatment and resistance<\/li>\n<li>Apply the new methodology to samples from large clinical cohorts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p>BSc (First or 2:1) or Master\u2019s degree in a biological, computational or quantitative subject.<\/p>\n<p>A strong interest in evolutionary approaches to medicine is essential, and willingness to engage in extensive mathematical and computational work. Experience in sequencing technologies, epigenetics, or computational modelling would be highly advantageous but is not essential. Motivation to work at the interface of academia and industry, and enthusiasm for translational applications of genomics, will be highly valued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\">\n<div class=\"ecl-u-type-bold ecl-u-mb-m\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Specific Requirements<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Only applicants who satisfy the following mobility rule are eligible to apply: Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The candidate will receive a monthly salary of Euros 4,917 (subject to tax and National Insurance deductions), which includes both a living allowance and a mobility allowance, for a duration of 36 months.
