Irina Vasiliu, a political analyst, attended the event on behalf of the European Commission in Spain. The inauguration was also attended by representatives of INGESA and the management of the new hospital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/020625-sanchez-hospital-melilla3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-160296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/020625-sanchez-hospital-melilla3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"991\" height=\"661\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/020625-sanchez-hospital-melilla3.jpg 991w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/020625-sanchez-hospital-melilla3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/020625-sanchez-hospital-melilla3-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 991px) 100vw, 991px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hospital will improve health care for the inhabitants of Melilla, increasing the number of beds, the range of services available and the number of professionals providing services. The project has involved a total investment of 150 million euros. Of this total investment, \u20ac15 million has come from the European Regional Development Fund in the multiannual financial framework 2021-2027, where it has been considered a strategic operation. A further \u20ac34.16 million from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism has been used to improve the equipment available in several specialised units.
