{"id":160272,"date":"2025-06-04T03:00:39","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T01:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=160272"},"modified":"2025-06-03T10:37:03","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T08:37:03","slug":"phd-project-technician-forest-operations-portugal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/phd-project-technician-forest-operations-portugal\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD &#8211; PROJECT TECHNICIAN \u2013 FOREST OPERATIONS &#8211; Portugal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/cp27.jpg\" width=\"386\" height=\"257\" \/><\/p>\n<p>CoLAB ForestWISE\u00ae opens one position for a Project Manager in the Forestry Operations Area, in the scope of the transForm Green Agenda &#8211; Digital Transformation of the Forestry Sector for a Resilient and Low Carbon Economy, supported by the Component 5 &#8211; Promotion of Sustainable Bioeconomy (PRR | C5 Agenda Notice No. 02\/C05-i01\/2022), through European funds provided to Portugal by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM) of the European Union (EU), framed within the Next Generation UE, for the period from 2021-2025.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Under the supervision of the CTO of CoLAB ForestWISE\u00ae, the Coordinator of the Work Line in which he\/she will be integrated and the Director of the transForm Agenda, the employee to be hired will be responsible for the following duties:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Autonomously carry out research, creation and transfer of knowledge and technology in the field of forestry operations, namely bibliographical research, collection of field data on operation times and costs, statistical analysis of data using different software (R, SPSS or other similar);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Support the development of new digital technologies for planning and monitoring forestry operations, with special emphasis on harvesting and logistics (within the scope of Forest 4.0), together with the companies responsible for their development and end users. This support requires contributing to analysing requirements, carrying out field tests with the selected technologies, supporting demonstrations and collecting data from potential users. collecting data from potential users;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Support the development of new digital technologies to plan and monitor forestry operations;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Contribute to analysing requirements, support the development of methodologies to validate data, carry out fieldwork to assess the quality of the information collected;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Support for demonstrations and dissemination of project results;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Drawing up progress reports on the aforementioned activities;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Collaborate, whenever necessary, with the other members of the Agenda, namely with companies, academia and public bodies for the proper execution of the Agenda&#8217;s projects;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Organise and participate in CoLAB ForestWISE\u00ae communication, dissemination and knowledge transfer initiatives associated with the project or others that may be relevant to it;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">To support the execution of other project management activities, including technical control and the communication and dissemination of results;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Represent CoLAB ForestWISE\u00ae on request.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\">\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Bachelor&#8217;s or Master&#8217;s degree in the field of Engineering, Forestry Sciences or related areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">If the qualification has been acquired by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognised by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 341\/2007, of 12 October, regulated by Order No. 227\/2017, of 25 July and updated by Decree-Law No. 66\/2018, published in the Di\u00e1rio da Rep\u00fablica (1st Series, No. 157, of 16 August 2018), having any formalities established in this document be complied with by the effective date of the hiring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>Personal skills:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Organisational skills and working methods;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Proactivity and ability to identify improvements in the various information flows;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ease and good integration in teamwork;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ease of dealing with different interlocutors;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Excellent writing and summarising skills;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Proactivity in resolving the organisation&#8217;s daily issues;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Availability and flexible working hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\">\n<div class=\"ecl-u-type-bold ecl-u-mb-m\"><strong>Specific Requirements<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Among others, the following are prioritised:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: forestry operations, logistics and supply chains, operational research, information systems, circular economy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Experience in participating in and\/or managing research and\/or consultancy projects in collaboration with companies and\/or organisations in the national scientific and technological system;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Working experience with public and private forestry sector organisations and other forestry sector players in Portugal;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Written and oral proficiency in Portuguese and English (level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Office skills and statistical analysis software.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div
