The education includes relevant courses amounting to about six months of study, a dissertation based on independent research, participation in national and international research environments, relevant academic communication, a trial lecture and public defence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The appointment is\u00a0for three years with\u00a0research duties\u00a0exclusively. The position is funded by The Research Council of Norway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The PhD Fellow will be affiliated with the research project MICROTARGET \u2013 &#8220;Development of Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles Enclosing miRNA for the Treatment of HER2-Positive Breast Cancer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project is focused on the development of targeted lipid nanoparticles carrying therapeutic RNA. These RNA nanocarriers will be assessed for their potential to treat breast cancer positive for the protein Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2). The project involves development of the nanocarriers and their testing in breast cancer cell lines as well as patient-derived cancer cells.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They are looking for applicants with a strong academic background who have completed a five-year master degree within molecular biology, biotechnology or biochemistry, preferably acquired recently; or who possess corresponding qualifications that could provide a basis for successfully completing a doctorate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It will be considered an advantage to have:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>training in basic methods in biotechnology and\/or molecular biology<\/li>\n<li>experience with cell culture, microscopy (both light and electron microscopy), RNA work, and nanoparticles-<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Emphasis is also placed on your:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>motivation and\u00a0potential for research within the field<\/li>\n<li>professional and personal skills for completing the doctoral degree within the timeframe<\/li>\n<li>ability to\u00a0work independently and in a team, be innovative and creative<\/li>\n<li>ability to work structured and handle a heavy workload<\/li>\n<li>having a good\u00a0command of both oral and written English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A good proficiency in English is required for anyone attending the PhD program. International applicants must document this with a valid test certificate from one of the following tests:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>TOEFL \u2013 Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-Based Test (IBT). Minimum result: 90<\/li>\n<li>IELTS \u2013 International English Language Testing Service. Minimum result: 6.5<\/li>\n<li>Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge<\/li>\n<li>PTE Academic \u2013 Pearson Test of English Academic.
