The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary research team composed of researchers in engineering, economics, law and public policy from seven Dutch universities, two Universities of Applied Science, TNO, and a consortium of industrial (e.g., TenneT) and institutional partners (e.g., Ministry of Climate Policy and Green Growth).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You will work in the Algorithmics group at the Software Technology department under supervision of prof.dr. Mathijs de Weerdt and dr. Germ\u00e1n Morales-Espa\u00f1a. In the Algorithmics group, you will become part of a dynamic and diverse environment of PhD and postdoc researchers excited about making theoretical and algorithmic contributions in intelligent decision making.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Job requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">To qualify for this position you must have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">completed a relevant MSc degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">demonstrated competences in one or more of these categories: combinatorial optimization, linear programming, algorithm design,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">excellent programming skills, preferably experience in Julia,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">a proven record and interest in further developing your modelling, programming and analytical skills,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">strong affinity and enthusiasm for state-of-the-art, algorithmic and optimization approaches, and in applying these to support decisions regarding the energy transition,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">excellent critical and analytical thinking skills,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">an affinity with teaching and guiding students,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">proficiency in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in English,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">the ability to work in a team and take initiative.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Doctoral candidates will be offered a 4-year period of employment in principle, but in the form of 2 employment contracts. An initial 1,5 year contract with an official go\/no go progress assessment within 15 months. Followed by an additional contract for the remaining 2,5 years assuming everything goes well and performance requirements are met.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from \u20ac 2872 per month in the first year to \u20ac 3670 in the fourth year. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School.
