{"id":158273,"date":"2025-03-19T12:00:03","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T11:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=158273"},"modified":"2025-04-03T13:53:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T11:53:37","slug":"the-council-adds-one-entity-to-its-autonomous-list-of-sanctions-associated-with-isil-daesh-and-al-qaida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/the-council-adds-one-entity-to-its-autonomous-list-of-sanctions-associated-with-isil-daesh-and-al-qaida\/","title":{"rendered":"The Council adds one entity to its autonomous list of sanctions associated with ISIL (Daesh) and Al-Qaida."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 17 March the Council decided to add <strong>Al Azaim Media Foundation<\/strong> to the EU autonomous list of persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaida and therefore subject to EU restrictive measures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al Azaim Media Foundation is the media arm of the <strong>Islamic State-Khorasan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pixabay.com\/photo\/2018\/08\/19\/23\/27\/terrorism-3617828_1280.jpg\" alt=\"Terrorismo, Mundo, Arma De Fuego\" width=\"575\" height=\"383\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the 17 March decision, the autonomous list of individuals and entities associated with ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaida includes a total of <strong>15 individuals<\/strong> and <strong>7 groups<\/strong>. The sanctioned individuals and groups are subject to an <strong>asset freeze<\/strong>, which includes a <strong>prohibition<\/strong> on persons and operators in the EU <strong>making funds<\/strong> or economic resources <strong>available to those individuals and groups<\/strong>. Sanctioned persons are also subject to a <strong>travel ban<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today&#8217;s decision reconfirms the <strong>EU&#8217;<\/strong>s <strong>determination to combat the continuing terrorist threat posed by Al-Qaida, ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and their regional affiliates<\/strong>. The EU remains determined to take strong action against those who continue to threaten international peace and security through their involvement in the planning, financing and perpetration of terrorist attacks and in the worldwide dissemination of their deadly terrorist propaganda..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since September 2016, the Council can autonomously impose sanctions against ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaida and against individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with these organisations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU&#8217;s autonomous restrictive measures complement the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council against ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaeda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 8 October 2024, the Council extended for one year &#8211; until 31 October 2025 &#8211; the existing restrictive measures against ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaida and against natural and legal persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/es\/press\/press-releases\/2025\/03\/17\/isil-da-esh-and-al-qaeda-the-council-adds-one-entity-to-its-autonomous-list-of-sanctions\/\">Council of the European Union<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 17 March the Council decided to add Al Azaim Media Foundation to the EU autonomous list of persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with ISIL (Da&#8217;esh) and Al-Qaida and therefore subject to EU restrictive measures.
