It will focus on investment, the transition to clean energy, skills and technology, and the development of strategic industries throughout the supply chain, thus creating quality jobs in Africa. The leaders also agreed to expand their cooperation to essential raw materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">To launch this new chapter in EU-South Africa relations, President\u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">von der Leyen<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0announced a\u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Global Gateway Investment Package worth \u20ac4.7 billion<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The majority of the package (\u20ac4.4 billion) will be invested in projects that support a clean and fair energy transition in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">This represents a significant commitment in the context of the &#8221;\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Scaling Up Renewable Energy in Africa&#8221; \u200b\u200bcampaign <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">\u00a0, launched by President\u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">von der Leyen<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0and President Ramaphosa in conjunction with the G20 Summit in Rio.
