This is essential in helping the EU to tackle next year\u2019s socio-economic challenges. The latest guidance includes euro area policies, the Alert Mechanism Report and Joint Employment Report for 2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/00-08.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-155661\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/00-08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"991\" height=\"592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/00-08.jpg 991w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/00-08-300x179.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/00-08-768x459.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 991px) 100vw, 991px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the\u00a0<strong>Joint Employment Report<\/strong>\u00a0proposal, the EU labour market remains relatively robust. The EU employment rate reached a record high of 75.3% in 2023 and rose further to 75.8% in the second quarter of 2024. At the same time, the unemployment rate decreased to a historic low of 6.1% in 2023, a trend that continued in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But challenges persist. Although real wages are recovering, they have not yet fully restored the purchasing power lost in previous years. Widespread labour and skills shortages also pose bottlenecks for productivity gains, innovation and competitiveness. The proposal recommends further\u00a0<strong>promoting skills development<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>across the EU<\/strong>\u00a0as well as<em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>promoting quality jobs and an anti-poverty strategy<\/strong>\u00a0in order to reach the 2030 targets in the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 2025<strong>\u00a0Alert Mechanism Report<\/strong>\u00a0proposal<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>identifies potential macroeconomic imbalances that could impact the economy of individual\u00a0EU countries or the EU as a whole.\u00a0In 2025,\u00a0<strong>in-depth reviews will be prepared for the nine countries<\/strong>\u00a0that were identified as experiencing imbalances or excessive imbalances in 2024:\u202f<strong>Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia\u202f<\/strong>and<strong>\u202fSweden<\/strong>. An additional in-depth review will also be prepared for\u202f<strong>Estonia<\/strong>\u202fdue to specific risks of newly emerging imbalances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>euro area recommendation<\/strong>\u00a0calls on EU countries to act both individually, including through the implementation of their Recovery and Resilience Plans, and collectively within the Eurogroup to improve competitiveness and foster economic resilience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Semester will continue to identify socio-economic challenges and provide guidance on the policy action needed to address them.\u202fIn 2025, the European Semester Spring Package will provide country-specific recommendations to tackle main country-specific challenges identified in the Country Reports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/news\/eu-guidance-how-address-europes-socio-economic-challenges-2025-2024-12-18_en?prefLang=es\">European Commission.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Commission has published further\u00a0policy guidance to support EU countries preserve macroeconomic stability\u00a0while promoting growth and improving their competitiveness.
