The EIB is also making its services available to national, regional and local government authorities to prepare additional measures if necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-154516\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hands-2802891_1280-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The European Investment Bank got to work quickly to speed up financial support for repairing and rebuilding homes, businesses and infrastructure. We must build back better, with techniques adapted to the new situation that can withstand and protect against increasingly frequent and intense climate shocks,\u201d said <strong>EIB President Nadia Calvi\u00f1o<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is reassuring that the EU institutions are focusing on supporting EU Member States at the most difficult of times \u2013 a true European value. I would like to thank the European Investment Bank for the intense work we have done together over the last few days to activate all possible financing for recovery and reconstruction in the affected areas of Spain, namely the Valencia region, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia,\u201d added\u00a0<strong>Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Background information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>EIB<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the long-term lending institution of the European Union owned by its Member States. It finances sound investments to pursue\u00a0EU\u00a0policy objectives. EIB projects bolster competitiveness, drive innovation, promote sustainable development, enhance social and territorial cohesion, and support a just and swift transition to climate neutrality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group), consisting of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Investment Fund (EIF), reported total financing signatures in Spain of \u20ac11.4\u00a0billion in 2023, approximately \u20ac6.8\u00a0billion of which went to climate action and environmental sustainability projects.
