The system will be scaled to all CERN accelerators and all their<br \/>\nsub-systems: beam instrumentations, interlocks, collimators, etc.<\/p>\n<p>You can expect to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Become part of an agile and quality-oriented team of skilled software engineers and\u00a0physicists providing solutions essential for the CERN Controls System and daily accelerator operation;<\/li>\n<li>Interact with operators, physicists, equipment experts, and software engineers to understand the domain, the controls challenge it poses, the operational needs and\u00a0help translate these into appropriate software solutions;<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with experienced software engineers, operators, physicists to review the existing commissioning system and identify possibilities and requirements for future\u00a0improvements;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the complete software development lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing), following an agile methodology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The technology stack of the CERN Accelerator Commissioning system includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Java (Spring and Spring Boot ecosystem);<\/li>\n<li>Oracle RDBMS;<\/li>\n<li>gRPC based APIs with Java and Python client libraries;<\/li>\n<li>Java Swing GUIs;<\/li>\n<li>DevOps and CI\/CD with Gitlab, Gradle, and containers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Required selection criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\">\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p>Skills<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in Java application development using Spring;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and maintaining software products, from analysis to<br \/>\noperations;<\/li>\n<li>Experience applying software quality assurance techniques and practices (testing, code reviews, etc.);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Advantageous knowledge\/experience (consider applying even if you don&#8217;t meet these):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic knowledge, or willingness to acquire, of Java Swing for occasional improvement of operational GUIs;<\/li>\n<li>Curious and quality-oriented mindset;<\/li>\n<li>Experience with gRPC is a strong asset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Language skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are a national of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/about\/member-states\">CERN Member or Associate Member State<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You have a professional background in Software Engineer (or a related field) and have either:\n<ul>\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>Master&#8217;s degree with 2 to 6 years<\/strong>\u00a0of post-graduation professional experience;<\/li>\n<li>or a\u00a0<strong>PhD with no more than 3 years<\/strong>\u00a0of post-graduation professional experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-m\">\n<div class=\"ecl\"><b>Benefits\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A monthly stipend ranging between\u00a0<strong>6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Coverage by CERN&#8217;s comprehensive\u00a0<strong>health scheme<\/strong>\u00a0(for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN\u00a0<strong>Pension Fund<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.<\/li>\n<li><strong>30 days of paid leave per year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and\/or French.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong>Organisation\/Company \u2013<\/strong>CERN &#8211; European Organization for Nuclear Research<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research Field<\/strong> \u2013 Computer science<\/p>\n<p><strong>Researcher Profile\u00a0 <\/strong>Established Researcher (R3)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ecl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong>Country<\/strong> \u2013 Switzerland<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline<\/strong> \u20139 Dec 2024 &#8211; 23:59 (Europe\/Zurich)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>More information:<a href=\"https:\/\/euraxess.ec.europa.eu\/jobs\/285529\"> EUROAXESS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe.
