The number of beneficiaries decreased in Luxembourg (-470; -11.0%) and France (-470; -0.8%). Starting in July 2024, Germany removed from the reported stock of people under temporary protection all individuals whose temporary protection status was no longer valid because either they have been granted with another protection status or definitely left the German territory. In comparison with the end of June 2024, this led to a significant decrease in the number of people under temporary protection reported by Germany, with a reduction of 236,925 people (-17.6%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/4187653\/18051234\/temporary-protection-july-2024.jpg\/430d737c-966b-167d-e9f4-0a7a95f43dd8?t=1725890975778\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Non-EU citizens who fled Ukraine under temporary protection status, July 2024, total and ratio to 1 000 people - click to expand\" src=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/4187653\/18051234\/temporary-protection-july-2024.jpg\/430d737c-966b-167d-e9f4-0a7a95f43dd8?t=1725890975778\" alt=\"Non-EU citizens who fled Ukraine under temporary protection status, July 2024, total and ratio to 1 000 people. See link to full dataset below.\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph ecl-u-type-align-center\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Source datasets:\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/databrowser\/view\/MIGR_ASYTPSM__custom_7394287\/default\/table?lang=en\">migr_asytpsm<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/databrowser\/bookmark\/8ab7cec2-e99c-448d-8a0a-dcf77368549f?lang=en\">migr_asytpspop<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Compared with the population of each EU country, the highest ratio of temporary protection beneficiaries per thousand people at the end of July 2024 were observed in Czechia (33.9), Lithuania (27.4) and Poland (26.7), whereas the corresponding figure at the EU level was 9.2 per thousand people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 31 July 2024, Ukrainian citizens represented over 98% of the beneficiaries of temporary protection. Adult women made up almost half (45.3%) of the temporary protection beneficiaries in the EU. Children accounted for almost one-third (32.4%), while adult men comprised slightly more than a fifth (22.4%) of the total.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data presented in this article refer to the attribution of temporary protection status based on the\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=celex:32022D0382\">Council Implementing Decision 2022\/382 of 4 March 2022<\/a>, establishing the existence of a mass influx of displaced persons from Ukraine due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, and introducing temporary protection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 25 June 2024, the\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/press\/press-releases\/2024\/06\/25\/ukrainian-refugees-council-extends-temporary-protection-until-march-2026\/\">European Council adopted the decision to extend the temporary protection<\/a>\u00a0for these people from 4 March 2025 to 4 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/products-eurostat-news\/w\/ddn-20240910-1\">Eurostat<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 31 July 2024, slightly more than 4.1 million non-EU\u00a0citizens, who fled Ukraine as a consequence of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, had temporary\u00a0protection status\u00a0in the EU.
