This is the <strong>first delivery of the vaccine to the country<\/strong>, and a second delivery of about 100,000 vaccines is expected in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-117048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1075\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1-768x430.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/vaccination-6949299_1920-1-1536x860.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These vaccines are part of the <strong>215,000<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_24_4244\"><strong>doses of the vaccine<\/strong><\/a><button class=\"wt-unselected wt-laco wt-laco--button\" title=\"Buscar traducciones disponibles del enlace anterior\" type=\"button\" aria-controls=\"laco-modal\"><\/button> <sup>MVA-BN\u00ae<\/sup> vaccine that the European Commission&#8217;s European Health Emergency Response and Preparedness Authority (HERA) has procured and committed to share with affected countries in Africa in immediate response to the mpox outbreak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through <strong>Team Europe, an<\/strong> additional <strong>351 500 doses will be provided<\/strong> to the African Centres for Disease Control and Prevention from France, Germany, Spain, Malta, Portugal, Luxembourg, Croatia, Austria and Poland &#8211; and possibly other Member States &#8211; for distribution to the affected countries. This brings the total number of vaccine doses provided by Team Europe to at <strong>least 566 500<\/strong>, including the <strong>215 000 doses mentioned<\/strong> above provided by HERA in cooperation with the pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stella <strong>Kyriakides<\/strong>, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, said: &#8220;The European Commission is today delivering the first doses of smallpox vaccines to the Democratic Republic of Congo. As of today, some 200,000 doses of vaccines from the Commission&#8217;s Health Emergency Response and Preparedness Authority (HERA) will arrive in the DRC to help tackle the outbreak. In addition, Team Europe has today announced a collective commitment to donate some 351,500 doses, bringing the total to at least 566,500 doses of vaccine. We know that in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, we can only tackle health threats like mpox if we work together and show global solidarity across borders.
