The production value of trout (15.1%) and seabass (14.0%) had the highest shares of value for the EU aquatic farming sector.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fragment-15308127-ubvm\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"publication-web-content ecl-row\">\n<div class=\"ecl-col-12 ecl-col-l-8\">\n<div>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Fluctuations in production are present due to a variety of reasons, including the fact that some of the species are being bred and grown solely for stocking purposes, some fish species are not harvested yearly, some enterprises trying new species, and the production of some species is being experimental.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-151111\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/main-species-in-aquaculture-production-1280x720.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/en\/web\/products-eurostat-news\/w\/wdn-20240314-1\">Increased energy prices<\/a>\u00a0(due to COVID and war in Ukraine) caused higher production prices, reflected also in selling prices. While production in tonnes remained the same (or even fell in some countries), the total production value in euros climbed higher.
