Around 100 paid traineeships are offered each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/applications-proceedure.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-149331 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/applications-proceedure.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/applications-proceedure.png 825w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/applications-proceedure-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/applications-proceedure-768x433.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Traineeship programmes<\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twice a year, the Council offers 5-month paid traineeships in Brussels:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>16 February to 15 July (first period)<\/li>\n<li>1 September to 31 January (second period)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Who can apply<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>EU citizens<\/li>\n<li>Main programme: already have a university degree.<\/li>\n<li>Positive action programme: at least a third year student of a university\/college<\/li>\n<li>Candidates with diverse backgrounds as we offer traineeships in different areas (policy, administration, communication, IT, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>A good knowledge of English or French is required (at least level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)<\/li>\n<li>Very good knowledge of at least two EU official languages<\/li>\n<li>No previous training (paid or unpaid) or employment for more than six weeks at an EU institution, body, agency or office<\/li>\n<li>There is no age limit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Offer<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Monthly\u00a0<strong>grant of \u20ac1 376.88 net<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 days of leave per month worked<\/li>\n<li>60\u20ac monthly allowance to be used in the Council\u2019s restaurants<\/li>\n<li>Travel allowance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Other benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Accident insurance<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access to health insurance (partial reimbursement)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Option to join the Council gym for 30\u20ac<\/li>\n<li>Access to all Council library resources and services (eBooks, newspapers, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">How to apply<\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applications are open twice a year:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>in February<\/strong>\u00a0for traineeships starting in September<\/li>\n<li><strong>in September<\/strong>\u00a0for traineeships starting in February of the following year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applications are open for a limited period.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">What\u2019s in it for you<\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A traineeship in the Council offers you:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>first-hand experience<\/strong>\u00a0of the work of the Council<\/li>\n<li>insight into the processes and policies of the\u00a0<strong>EU institutions<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>an opportunity to\u00a0<strong>contribute\u00a0<\/strong>to the Council\u2019s day-to-day business<\/li>\n<li>the chance to work in a\u00a0<strong>diverse environment<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>an opportunity to share your fresh\u00a0<strong>point of view<\/strong>\u00a0and the knowledge you have acquired during your studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a trainee, you will also get the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities, such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>helping out during EU and international\u00a0<strong>summits<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>visits to and conferences<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>at<\/strong>\u00a0other EU institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg<\/li>\n<li>Council and Parliament\u00a0<strong>simulation games<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>volunteering<\/strong>\u00a0for projects in other units<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">What trainees do<\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Council offers traineeship opportunities in\u00a0<strong>many areas<\/strong>\u00a0to suit candidates with diverse profiles. Overall, there are two main types of jobs available:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. If you are working in a<strong>\u00a0policy team<\/strong>, you will be involved in activities related to the legislative work of the Council and the preparation of meetings. The Council\u2019s policy work includes areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>economy and finance<\/li>\n<li>environment and climate<\/li>\n<li>foreign affairs<\/li>\n<li>justice and home affairs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"council-link-list padding-bottom-20\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a class=\"\" title=\"Careers in the policy and legal support services\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/general-secretariat\/jobs\/careers-in-the-policy-and-legal-support-services\/\">Careers in the policy and legal support services<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. If you are working in a\u00a0<strong>support team<\/strong>, you will be involved in activities that support the cross-sectoral work of the Council in areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Communication and media relations<\/li>\n<li>Human resources<\/li>\n<li>Information technology (IT)<\/li>\n<li>Translation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Trainees\u2019 tasks<\/strong>\u00a0vary from team to team, depending on their needs.
