However, identifying the most appropriate option is not always straightforward for potential beneficiaries. The Rural toolkit gathers funding opportunities from 26 different EU funds, from the Common Agricultural Policy to Cohesion Funds, Horizon Europe and the Recovery and Resilience Facility. In just a few clicks, rural entrepreneurs and local authorities can find out the best funding available to help them develop their project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This newly launched\u00a0<strong>comprehensive gateway to EU funding and support initiatives\u00a0<\/strong>available for rural areas in the EU aims to equip applicants with the knowledge and tools needed to\u00a0<strong>address local needs.\u00a0<\/strong>Beneficiaries may be local authorities, institutions, businesses, associations and individuals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>FUNDING AND SUPPORT FOR RURAL AREAS IN ALL EU LANGUAGES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new tool offers automatic translations in\u00a0<strong>all EU languages.\u00a0<\/strong>An\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/finder?lng=en\">interactive funding finder<\/a>\u00a0allows users to filter existing schemes based on several criteria:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>their role or organisation;<\/li>\n<li>the activity they want to implement (for example, improving infrastructure, addressing societal challenges, strengthening the local economy, enhancing climate resilience and sustainability);<\/li>\n<li>the type of support they are looking for: grants, financial instruments (such as loans and guarantees) or technical assistance likeadvisory services, training, mentoring programmes, support networks,etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After narrowing the choice to the most relevant options, key information about current programmes and initiatives is readily available in printable factsheets. Users can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/inspire?lng=en\">get inspired<\/a>\u00a0and explore a wide range of examples and\u00a0<strong>case studies<\/strong>, discovering how EU funds and support mechanisms have already been implemented successfully in rural areas across the EU. Many inspiring stories are displayed on a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/inspire?lng=en\">clickable map<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 for example, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/biovilla.org\/\">Biovilla cooperative<\/a>\u00a0in Portugal has become a leading actor of\u00a0<strong>sustainability and environmental protection<\/strong>, by promoting nature tourism, educational programmes and landscape restoration activities thanks to a\u00a0<strong>combination of private and EU funds<\/strong>. Following a similar approach, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmontidauni.it\/\">Meridaunia organisation<\/a>\u00a0in Italy has promoted\u00a0<strong>rural, environmental and cultural tourism<\/strong>\u00a0experiences, alongside local agricultural products, thus enhancing the competitiveness and reputation of the Monti Dauni area. In Romania, EU funds co-financed the setting up of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/enrd\/sites\/default\/files\/project\/attachments\/enrd_setting-up_of_wooden_toy_manufacturing_workshop_in_rural_romania_0.pdf\">wooden toy manufacture<\/a>\u00a0that now exports around the world and created several jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/resources?lng=en\">resources<\/a>\u00a0section offers guidance documents, reports and manuals on EU funding opportunities for specific sectors, including broadband, culture, education, energy, environment and tourism. Additional background material can be consulted on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/faq?lng=en\">Frequent questions<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/funding.rural-vision.europa.eu\/about?lng=en\">About<\/a>\u00a0pages.<\/p>\n<section id=\"inline-nav-1\">\n<div class=\"ecl-paragraph-detail\">\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Rural toolkit is part of the Commission&#8217;s long-term vision for stronger, connected, resilient and prosperous rural areas in the EU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>EU&#8217;s rural areas cover 83% of the EU territory and are home to 30% of the EU population.<\/strong>\u00a0In 2021, the European Commission presented\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rural-vision.europa.eu\/index_en\">its Long-term vision for the EU&#8217;s rural areas<\/a>, identifying the challenges and concerns that they are facing as well as the many opportunities available to them. In addition to all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=celex:32013R1303\">the EU funds<\/a>\u00a0contributing to supporting prosperous rural areas, the vision relies for its implementation on two pillars that complement each other: the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rural-vision.europa.eu\/action-plan_en\">Rural Action Plan<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ruralpact.rural-vision.europa.eu\/rural-pact_en\">Rural Pact<\/a>. The Action Plan puts forward\u00a0<strong>four areas of action<\/strong>\u00a0for the European Commission to prompt\u00a0<strong>stronger, connected, resilient and prosperous<\/strong>\u00a0EU rural areas.
