With the EU markets fully integrated, a modernised infrastructure network will ensure citizens and business can benefit from cheaper and cleaner energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Electricity consumption in the EU is expected to increase by around 60% between now and 2030. Networks will have to accommodate a more\u00a0<strong>digitalised, decentralised and flexible system<\/strong>\u00a0with millions of rooftop solar panels, heat pumps and local energy communities sharing their resources, more offshore renewables coming online, more electric vehicles to charge, and growing hydrogen production needs. With 40% of our distribution grids more than 40 years old and cross-border transmission capacity due to double by 2030,\u00a0<strong>\u20ac<\/strong><strong>584\u00a0billion\u00a0in investments<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>are necessary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/pacto-verde-el-pe-apoya-las-nuevas-reglas-sobre-redes-energeticas-transeuropeas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/gas-_-natural.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/green-deal-ep-backs-updated-guidelines-for-trans-european-energy-infrastructure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Deal: EP backs updated guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>An Action Plan to address the missing links of the clean energy transition<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Action Plan aims to address the main challenges in expanding, digitalising and better using EU electricity transmission and distribution grids. It identifies concrete and tailor-made actions to help unlock the needed investment to get European electricity grids up to speed.
