Biodiversity loss and change thus pose major scientific and societal challenges.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Superaci\u00f3n-de-los-l\u00edmites-de-la-investigaci\u00f3n-transnacional-sobre-la-biodiversidad.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14479 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Superaci\u00f3n-de-los-l\u00edmites-de-la-investigaci\u00f3n-transnacional-sobre-la-biodiversidad-300x182.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Superaci\u00f3n-de-los-l\u00edmites-de-la-investigaci\u00f3n-transnacional-sobre-la-biodiversidad-300x182.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Superaci\u00f3n-de-los-l\u00edmites-de-la-investigaci\u00f3n-transnacional-sobre-la-biodiversidad-768x465.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Superaci\u00f3n-de-los-l\u00edmites-de-la-investigaci\u00f3n-transnacional-sobre-la-biodiversidad-1024x620.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Addressing biodiversity challenges and providing scientific support requires coordinated interdisciplinary research at national regional and international levels. <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biodiversa.org\">BiodivERsA<\/a> an EU network of national and local ministries and agencies supports this effort via programming and funding research on biodiversity and nature-based solutions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Building on the previous experiences of BiodivERsA1 and 2 and NetBiome, the BiodivERsA3 project is an ERA-NET co-funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, bringing together 36 organisations from 23 European countries. As project coordinator, Dr Xavier Le Roux explains, \u201cthe scope of this network is to strengthen the cooperation between programmers and funders of biodiversity research to achieve synergy and resource efficiency, with a strong integration at the local, national and transnational levels.\u2033<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">BiodivERsA3 benefits from a successful collaboration history among countries in the European Research Area (ERA) since 2005 established and consolidated by the first two editions of the network. This ERA-NET has served as the foundation for ambitious funding calls on biodiversity ecosystem services and nature-based solutions in particular the 2015 call on \u2018Blue and Green Infrastructures\u2019 and 2018 call on \u2018Biodiversity and Health\u2019. Among its major achievements is the efficient mobilisation of local national and EU resources for implementing these calls for EUR 44 million in cash. Additional EUR 28 million funding has emerged through the COFUND initiative <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.era-learn.eu\/network-information\/networks\/biodivscen\">BiodivScen<\/a> between BiodivERsA and the <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.belmontforum.org\/\">Belmont Forum<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The future of the BiodivERsA network<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">BiodivERsA promotes ERA in the field of biodiversity, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions through the continuous alignment of research programmes at the national and European levels.
