The Commission has also launched a\u00a0<strong>European Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism for medicines<\/strong>, whereby if there is a Member State\u2019s needs for a given medicine, other EU countries can redistribute such medicines from their stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Further actions to prevent medicines\u2019 shortages will be taken in the upcoming weeks and months, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>establishing an\u00a0<strong>EU list of critical medicines<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>setting up joint action to\u00a0<strong>allow rule exemptions<\/strong>\u00a0so medicines can reach patients<\/li>\n<li>EU guidance on procurement to\u00a0<strong>improve security of supply<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>EU\u00a0<strong>joint procurement<\/strong>\u00a0of antibiotics and treatments for respiratory viruses for next winter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-sends-request-for-information-to-aliexpress-under-the-digital-services-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/cardmapr-nl-SGj4fw55Y7w-unsplash-768x513.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-sends-request-for-information-to-aliexpress-under-the-digital-services-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission sends request for information to AliExpress under the Digital Services Act<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The Commission also plans to take measures to diversify supply and modernise the production of critical medicines. For this, a Critical Medicines Alliance will be set up in early 2024. This will bring together national and EU authorities, industry and civil society to coordinate action at EU level to address supply chain vulnerabilities.
