{"id":14150,"date":"2019-03-07T08:00:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-07T07:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=14150"},"modified":"2019-03-06T09:32:28","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T08:32:28","slug":"eu-budget-for-2021-2027-provisional-agreement-reached-on-the-financial-programme-to-support-justice-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-budget-for-2021-2027-provisional-agreement-reached-on-the-financial-programme-to-support-justice-area\/","title":{"rendered":"EU Budget for 2021-2027:  provisional agreement reached on the financial programme to support justice area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on the 2021-2027 Justice programme proposed by the European Commission in <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?qid=1551252929517&amp;uri=CELEX:52018PC0384\">May 2018.<\/a> This new programme will <strong>support developing an integrated European justice area<\/strong> based on the rule of law, mutual recognition and mutual trust.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/derecho-foto-e1548403353898.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12060 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/derecho-foto-300x201.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Justice programme with a budget of \u20ac 305,000,000 will fund activities such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Raising awareness and training of judges, prosecutors and other practitioners<\/strong> to improve their knowledge of Union policies, of judicial cooperation instruments and of the relevant case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promoting exchanges of good practices<\/strong> among stakeholders, including public authorities, research institutes, legal practitioners and NGOs, to improve mutual understanding of the civil and criminal law and the legal and judicial systems in Member States, including the rule of law;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developing the use of technology in the justice system<\/strong> to improve its efficiency, facilitate cooperation and the cross-border interoperability of systems and applications;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developing the capacity of European level networks and European judicial networks<\/strong>, as well as supporting civil society organisations to be active in the areas covered by the Programme;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organising monitoring activities<\/strong> to improve the knowledge and to understand potential obstacles to the smooth functioning of a European area of justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Next steps<\/h2>\n<p>This provisional agreement now has to be formally approved by both the European Parliament and the Council. The budgetary aspects are subject to the overall agreement on the EU&#8217;s next long-term budget, proposed by the Commission in May 2018.<\/p>\n<h2>Background<\/h2>\n<p>The new Justice programme builds on the current Justice programme (2014-2020). Since 2014, the Justice Programme has contributed to upholding and promoting the Union&#8217;s common values and to creating an area of freedom, security and justice.
