We strive to be an impartial centre of excellence in order to embed a strong data protection culture in the EU institutions and the legislation emanating from them. We also closely follow technological developments and try to anticipate their impact on the privacy of individuals. Our organisation employs about 120 staff members, most of whom are EU officials, but we also welcome Contract Agents and Seconded National Experts, working full-time or part-time.<\/p>\n<p><a sizes=\"(max-width: 2426px) 100vw, 2426px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Responsabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a Technology and Privacy Expert, your main responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Technology monitoring and foresight<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Monitor at national, supranational and global level the development of information and communication technologies which may have an impact on privacy and the protection of personal data, including in fields such as security, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Central Bank Digital Currency, distributed ledgers, encryption and anonymization;<\/li>\n<li>Prepare briefings and reports on the impact of technological developments on data protection and privacy and the application of the data protection by design and by default principle;<\/li>\n<li>Draft EDPS publications on technological developments and their impact on data protection and privacy for a wide, non-specialist audience;<\/li>\n<li>Draft guidelines for the EU Institutions (EUIs) on technology related topics;<\/li>\n<li>Cooperate with other data protection supervisory authorities, e.g. in the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), and other external stakeholders dealing with technology, data protection and privacy matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Advisory role for activities of other data protection units in the EDPS<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Contribute to EDPS opinions, formal and informal comments on legislative proposals with an impact on data protection and privacy that involve technological aspects;<\/li>\n<li>Provide advice to EU institutions (EUIs), offices, bodies and agencies on matters related to the impact of technology on data protection and privacy (for instance in response to prior consultations received after an institution for high risk Data Protection Impact Assessment or preparing ad-hoc trainings);<\/li>\n<li>Examine complaints linked to the use of technologies in the institutions, offices, bodies and agencies of the European Union, as well as other requests coming from data subjects;<\/li>\n<li>Provide technology related expertise in investigations and audits carried out by the EDPS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Essential<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>A university degree in Information Technology or another field relevant for this position, and at least five years of relevant professional experience in technological matters, preferably in the field of data protection;<\/li>\n<li>Very good knowledge of new technologies and capacity to assess the impact of technological developments on privacy and data protection;<\/li>\n<li>Proven capability for collecting, analysing, assessing and summarising information on technological developments, as well as presenting the outcome of these activities orally and in writing, including to a non-specialist audience;<\/li>\n<li>Very good ability of multi-tasking and completing several simultaneous projects within a deadline, as well as being able to demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work on diverse types of tasks;<\/li>\n<li>Very good level of written and spoken English, which is the main working language of the EDPS and of the EDPB;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work autonomously, but also a strong sense of teamwork;<\/li>\n<li>Very good organisational and prioritising skills in a very varied workload with demanding deadlines;<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience to cooperate with multiple stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Advantageous<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Hands on experience in technological fields such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, distributed ledgers, encryption or anonymization;<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of methods and standards for software engineering and experience in the field of development, operation, management and administration of information systems;<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of the legislation and its implications concerning data protection and privacy with regard to Union institutions, offices, bodies and agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the handling of complaints, in investigations and audits;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in an EU institution, in particular with
