The new partnership agreement between the EU and 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries will guide relations for the\u00a0next twenty years.\u00a0<\/strong>It will replace the Cotonou agreement, adopted in 2000.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n<\/header>\n

The Council adopted a decision on the signature and provisional application of the European Union and Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Partnership Agreement, as the new legal framework for the relations between the EU and its Member States and 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, for the\u00a0next twenty years<\/strong>, which will succeed the Cotonou Agreement.<\/p>\n

The deal covers a wide range of areas, from\u00a0sustainable development and growth, to human rights and peace and security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This association agreement aims to strengthen the capacity of the Parties to address\u00a0global challenges<\/strong>\u00a0together, including through cooperation in international fora, in a modernised framework.<\/p>\n

It lays down\u00a0common principles<\/strong>\u00a0and covers the following\u00a0priority areas<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
