Innovation is needed to respond to priority health threats such as pathogens with high pandemic potential or resistance to antibiotics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HERA Invest, a flagship initiative of the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority, will focus on health emergency prevention and preparedness, helping address these challenges by:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>promoting R&amp;D in Europe to strengthen strategic autonomy;<\/li>\n<li>reducing market failures, where financial resources do not cover the financing needs;<\/li>\n<li>leveraging public funding to incentivise private investment;<\/li>\n<li>creating new medical countermeasures to protect against health threats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/la-hera-se-asegura-la-compra-de-hasta-2-millones-vacunas-contra-la-viruela-del-mono\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/vacuna-gripe-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/la-hera-se-asegura-la-compra-de-hasta-2-millones-vacunas-contra-la-viruela-del-mono\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La HERA se asegura la compra de hasta 2 millones vacunas contra la viruela del mono<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How does HERA Invest work?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The HERA Invest funding instrument is geared towards\u00a0<strong>small and mid-sized companies<\/strong>\u00a0(SMEs) that develop medical countermeasures addressing one of the following health threats:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>pathogens with pandemic or epidemic potential;<\/li>\n<li>chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats originating from accidental or deliberate release;<\/li>\n<li>antimicrobial resistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under HERA Invest, the European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide\u00a0<strong>venture loans<\/strong>, covering a maximum of 50% of total project costs. There is a\u00a0<strong>rolling application process<\/strong>.
