In 2022, 9.4 million people in the\u00a0EU<\/a>\u00a0worked as\u00a0ICT<\/a>\u00a0specialists, representing 4.6% of the total EU workforce. The share of ICT specialists in the EU has been increasing over the last decade, rising by 1.4\u00a0percentage points (pp)<\/a>\u00a0since 2012.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Among the EU countries, the share of ICT specialists was highest in Sweden (8.6%), followed by Luxembourg (7.7%) and Finland (7.6%). The lowest shares were observed in Greece (2.5%), Romania (2.8%) and Poland (3.6%).<\/p>\n

From 2012 to 2022, the number of ICT specialists in the EU surged by 57.8%, which is nearly 6.6 times the growth rate for employment (+8.8%).<\/p>\n

Highest shares of women in ICT in Bulgaria, Romania and Estonia<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The share of women working as ICT specialists experienced a marginal decline in 2022 compared with 2021 (18.9% compared with 19.1%), breaking the upward trend observed since 2014.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Among the EU countries, the highest shares of women among employed ICT specialists were observed in Bulgaria (28.9%), Romania (25.2%) and Estonia (24.5%), while the smallest shares were observed in Czechia (10.9%) and Hungary (13.6%).<\/p>\n
