The sanctions also target the <strong>spokesman of the Iranian Police<\/strong>, and the secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace of Iran (<strong>SCC<\/strong>), the authority responsible for repression in the cyberspace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Furthermore, the Council is listing the\u00a0<strong>IRGC Cooperative Foundation<\/strong>, which is the body responsible for managing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps\u2019 investments and funnelling money into the regime\u2019s brutal repression and the Student Basij Organization (<strong>SBO<\/strong>). The latter acts as the IRGC\u2019s violent enforcers on university campuses where students staged protests in the fall of 2022, and were subsequently the victims of repression and serious human rights violations such as abduction and torture.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/el-consejo-europeo-sanciona-a-otras-8-personas-y-una-entidad-por-violaciones-de-los-derechos-humanos-en-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/craig-melville-El_P1d1PRKQ-unsplash-1-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/european-council-sanctions-8-more-individuals-and-1-entity-for-human-rights-violations-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Council sanctions 8 more individuals and 1 entity for human rights violations in Iran<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Restrictive measures now apply to a total of\u00a0<strong>216 individuals and 37 entities<\/strong>. They consist of an\u00a0<strong>asset freeze<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>travel ban<\/strong>\u00a0to the EU and a\u00a0<strong>prohibition to make funds or economic resources available<\/strong>\u00a0to those listed. A ban on exports to Iran of equipment which might be used for internal repression and of equipment for monitoring telecommunications is also in place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Union expresses its support for the fundamental aspiration of the people of Iran for a future where their universal human rights and fundamental freedoms are respected, protected and fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU calls on Iran to end the practice of imposing and carrying out death sentences against protesters, reverse the death penalty sentences pronounced, as well as provide due process to all detainees.
