In addition, its favorable economic development and political stability have made the country an attractive destination for migrants seeking to settle permanently, but also for seasonal and circular migrants, including women, children, and indigenous and Afro-descendant populations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This variety of profiles requires holistic, data-driven and rights-based efforts to mobilize migratory movements as a force for development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/ministers-and-vice-ministers-from-seven-latin-american-countries-set-up-the-latin-american-internal-security-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elpaccto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/20220302_x14x_EL-PAcCTO_CLASI-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/ministers-and-vice-ministers-from-seven-latin-american-countries-set-up-the-latin-american-internal-security-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ministers and Vice-Ministers from seven Latin American countries set up the Latin American Internal Security Committee<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Costa Rica&#8217;s migration profile and the exceptional challenges intensified by Covid-19 prompted the national authorities to develop a new plan to ensure orderly, safe and regular migration, as well as a protocol for emergency situations, inspired by European and regional best practices, through their collaboration with the MIEUX+ initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over the past 12 months, the development of the III NIP brought together stakeholders from multiple sectors to address the integration challenges facing Costa Rica in light of an increasingly complex migration situation in recent years. Its priority was to reinforce the Plan&#8217;s holistic approach, based on diversity as a value and driver of socioeconomic development, while incorporating new stakeholders such as municipalities and the private sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, the National Integration Plan 2023-2027 proposes to promote positive change by streamlining the integration of migrants and Costa Ricans through 6 strategic pillars: Education, Health, Maximizing diversity, Combating vulnerability and Strengthening inter-institutional coordination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Similarly, the Protocol for the Protection and Assistance to Migrants in Crisis Situations will strengthen Costa Rica&#8217;s comprehensive response to protect and assist migrant populations, especially during crises, such as the COVID-19 emergency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeas.europa.eu\/delegations\/costa-rica\/costa-rica-lanza-el-iii-plan-nacional-de-integraci%C3%B3n-y-el-protocolo-de_en\">European Union Delegation to Costa Rica<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Costa Rican Directorate General of Migration and Foreigners (DGME) and the MIEUX+ team jointly organized an event in San Jos\u00e9 on April 13, 2023.
