Today\u2019s action reaffirms the EU\u2019s determination to promote and protect human rights around the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/promo1edit.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-131510 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/promo1edit.jpg\" alt=\"mujer tras cristal\" width=\"1000\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/promo1edit.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/promo1edit-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/promo1edit-768x492.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new listings include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>two acting\u00a0<strong>Taliban ministers<\/strong>\u00a0for Higher Education and for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, who are behind the decrees banning women from higher education and gender-segregated practices in public spaces<\/li>\n<li>officers of the\u00a0<strong>Moscow Police Station<\/strong>\u00a0responsible for arbitrary arrests and detentions as well as torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in the context of the censorship and oppression led by the Russian authorities. The listings will also target high-ranking members of the\u00a0<strong>Russian armed forces<\/strong>, whose units systematically participated in acts of sexual and gender-based violence in Ukraine in March\/April 2022, in the context of Russia\u2019s unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine<\/li>\n<li>commanders of the\u00a0<strong>South Sudanese militias<\/strong>\u00a0responsible for the widespread and systematic use of sexual and gender-based violence as a war tactic in the country<\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0<strong>Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in Myanmar\/Burma<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0<strong>Qarchak Prison<\/strong>\u00a0in Iran, the\u00a0<strong>Syrian Republican Guard<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>Office of the Chief of Military Security Affairs\u00a0<\/strong>in Myanmar\/Burma are sanctioned in view of their roles in serious sexual and gender-based human rights violations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/como-los-datos-aceleran-el-progreso-hacia-la-igualdad-y-reducen-la-brecha-de-genero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/pexels-tim-mossholder-1722196-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/how-data-accelerates-progress-towards-equality-and-narrows-the-gender-gap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How data accelerates progress towards equality and narrows the gender gap<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 id=\"gender-equality-strategy-2020-2025\" class=\"ecl-inpage-navigation__heading--active\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The listed individuals and entities will now be subject to an\u00a0<strong>asset freeze<\/strong>\u00a0in the EU. In addition, listed individuals will be subject to a\u00a0<strong>travel ban<\/strong>\u00a0to the EU.
