Moreover, women remain in the majority in low-wage industries and are under-represented in managerial positions.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/como-los-datos-aceleran-el-progreso-hacia-la-igualdad-y-reducen-la-brecha-de-genero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/pexels-tim-mossholder-1722196-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/how-data-accelerates-progress-towards-equality-and-narrows-the-gender-gap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How data accelerates progress towards equality and narrows the gender gap<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 id=\"gender-equality-strategy-2020-2025\" class=\"ecl-inpage-navigation__heading--active\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU Gender Equality Strategy delivers on the von der Leyen Commission\u2019s commitment to achieving a Union of Equality. The Strategy presents policy objectives and actions to make significant progress by 2025\u00a0<strong>towards a gender-equal Europe<\/strong>. The goal is a Union where women and men, girls and boys, in all their diversity, are\u00a0<strong>free\u00a0<\/strong>to pursue their chosen path in life, have equal opportunities to\u00a0<strong>thrive<\/strong>, and can equally participate in and\u00a0<strong>lead\u00a0<\/strong>our European society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<strong>key objectives<\/strong>\u00a0are ending gender-based violence; challenging gender stereotypes; closing gender gaps in the labour market; achieving equal participation across different sectors of the economy; addressing the gender pay and pension gaps; closing the gender care gap and achieving gender balance in decision-making and in politics. The Strategy pursues a dual approach of gender\u00a0<strong>mainstreaming\u00a0<\/strong>combined with targeted actions, and\u00a0<strong>intersectionality\u00a0<\/strong>is a horizontal principle for its implementation. While the Strategy focuses on actions within the EU, it is coherent with the EU\u2019s external policy on gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As one of the first deliverables of the Strategy, the Commission proposed\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/policies\/justice-and-fundamental-rights\/gender-equality\/equal-pay\/eu-action-equal-pay_en\">binding pay transparency measures<\/a>\u00a0 on 4 March 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 8 March 2022, the European Commission adopted a\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/document\/download\/28552314-3316-40b4-ae0f-17ff8ab9f43f_en\">new EU-wide proposal for a directive to combat violence against women and domestic violence<\/a>.\u00a0The proposal seeks to introduce targeted minimum rules on the rights of this group of crime victims, and to criminalise the most severe forms of violence against women and of cyber violence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A milestone achievement is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/files\/directive-gender-balance-corporate-boards_en\">Directive on gender balance in corporate boards<\/a>, which seeks to improve the gender balance in corporate decision-making positions in the EU largest listed companies.
