The department offers education at bachelor, master\u2019s, and PhD\u00a0level in Architecture, and at master\u00b4s and PhD\u00a0level in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Ecological Planning, as well as Real Estate and Facilities Management. The department conducts research within the professional fields of the study programs as well as research on Smart Cities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The successful candidate will be associated with the group in Planning at IAP and take part in teaching and research within this field. The candidate will be responsible for teaching in the field of Planning and is expected to actively contribute to research activities at the department as well as collaborating with other NTNU faculties and external partners as regional and municipal planning authorities as well as private and non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NTNU offers an excellent context for interdisciplinary research and the department cooperates with departments at the faculties of engineering, social and educational sciences, natural sciences, and medicine and health sciences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your immediate leader is Head of Department<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Duties of the position<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The management and development of high-quality teaching activities at our Master&#8217;s programs in Planning, and at other programs offered by the department when required.<\/li>\n<li>Teaching of courses in Regional- and Municipal Planning, and Integrated Land Use and Transportation Planning,\u00a0Placemaking and Site Analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate and develop new research and engage in applications for external research funding, e.g., from the Research Council of Norway, European research and educational agencies, the industry sector, and other available resources.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research on the level of international standards, coordinate research projects, and to publish individually and in teams in international per-review journals.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise PhD students and engage in PhD education.<\/li>\n<li>Administrative work related to managing teaching and research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Required\u00a0qualifications<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Associate Professor:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You must have the\u00a0qualifications\u00a0required\u00a0for the position of Associate Professor in the field of Urban og Regional Planning, as outlined in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lovdata.no\/forskrift\/2006-02-09-129\/%C2%A71-4\">the\u00a0regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Your PhD, or competence at a corresponding level documented by academic work of the same scope and quality, and scientific experience must be primarily in the field of Urban and Regional Planning or a field that is relevant within a public planning system and its procedures, formal rules and laws.<\/li>\n<li>You must document profound research-based knowledge, or extended practice experience, or a combination of research and practice within urban and regional planning fields with a clear focus on sustainable urban development.<\/li>\n<li>Good written and oral communication in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You must document relevant basic competence\u00a0in\u00a0teaching and supervision at a\u00a0university\/higher education-level, as referenced in the Norwegian national<a href=\"https:\/\/lovdata.no\/dokument\/SF\/forskrift\/2006-02-09-129\">\u00a0Regulations<\/a>.\u00a0If\u00a0this cannot be documented, you will be required to complete an approved course in university pedagogy within two years of commencement.\u00a0NTNU offers qualifying courses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">New employees who do\u00a0not\u00a0speak a\u00a0Scandinavian language\u00a0by appointment is required, within three years, to\u00a0demonstrate skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language equivalent to level three of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntnu.edu\/norwegiancourse\">course for Norwegian for speakers of other languages\u00a0at the Department of Language and Literature at NTNU<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Preferred qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Master`s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Geography are preferred, candidates from other disciplines with relevant research and teaching experience in the field of Urban and Regional Planning.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants that can document a combined experience from planning practice and research.<\/li>\n<li>Documented research or practice experience within the context of the Norwegian Planning and Building Act or a Scandinavian planning system.<\/li>\n<li>Skills in GIS and digital planning tools.<\/li>\n<li>Research experience demonstrated through successful funds applications, coordination, and participation in research projects, as well as publications and peer-review in scientific journals.<\/li>\n<li>Good written and oral communication in a Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Personal qualities<\/h3>\n<ul
