As concerns the Navalny case, the new listings include operatives and high-ranking officials of the Russian Federal Security Service (<strong>FSB<\/strong>), and Russian\u00a0<strong>chemical weapons experts<\/strong>, while as regards Syria, the EU is sanctioning\u00a0<strong>MHD Nazier Houranieh &amp; Sons<\/strong>, which supplies the Syrian Studies and Research Centre (SSRC) with materials used to produce chemical weapons delivery systems, and its\u00a0<strong>co-owners<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>EU restrictive measures against the use and proliferation of chemical weapon now apply to a total of\u00a0<strong>25 individuals\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>3 entities<\/strong>. Those designated are subject to an\u00a0<strong>asset freeze<\/strong>\u00a0and a\u00a0<strong>travel ban\u00a0<\/strong>preventing them from entering or transiting through EU territories. EU persons and companies are also\u00a0<strong>forbidden from making funds available\u00a0<\/strong>to those listed.<\/p>\n<p>The EU remains fully committed to counter the proliferation and use of chemical weapons, and to support the provisions laid down by the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction (CWC).<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/normas-actualizadas-para-aumentar-la-seguridad-y-facilitar-el-comercio-legal-de-las-armas-de-fuego\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tom-def-MfM3p2yn4Ew-unsplash-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/firearms-updated-rules-to-increase-security-and-facilitate-legal-trade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Firearms: Updated rules to increase security and facilitate legal trade<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3>Background and next steps<\/h3>\n<p>The EU sanctions regime aims to contribute to the Union\u2019s efforts to counter the proliferation and use of chemical weapons and support the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction (CWC).<\/p>\n<p>Restrictive measures under this regime were first introduced in 2018 as a follow-up to the European Council conclusions of 28 June 2018.
