This is in view of their role in the death of Mahsa Amini and the\u00a0<strong>violent response to the recent demonstrations in Iran<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-122662\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"pared escrita Freedom\" width=\"713\" height=\"476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Freedom-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 713px) 100vw, 713px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">New\u2019s designations include: the four members of the <strong>squad that arbitrarily arrested Mahsa Amini<\/strong>, provincial heads of the\u00a0<strong>Iranian Law Enforcement Forces<\/strong>\u00a0(LEF) and of the\u00a0<strong>Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps\u00a0<\/strong>(IRGC), as well as Brigadier General<strong>\u00a0Kiyumars Heidari<\/strong>, the Commander of the Iranian Army\u2019s Ground Forces, for their role in the brutal repression of the recent protests. In addition, the EU designates Iranian state television broadcaster\u00a0<strong>Press TV<\/strong>\u00a0responsible for producing and broadcasting the forced confessions of detainees. Moreover, the EU lists\u00a0<strong>Vahid Mohammad Naser Majid<\/strong>, the head of the Iranian Cyber Police for his responsibility in arbitrarily arresting people for expressing online criticism of the Iranian regime. Lastly the EU also designated\u00a0<strong>Iran\u2019s Minister of Interior, Ahmad Vahidi<\/strong>, who is also in charge of the LEF, which have committed serious human rights violations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The measures imposed consist of a <strong>travel ban<\/strong>\u00a0and an\u00a0<strong>asset freeze<\/strong>. In addition, EU citizens and companies are\u00a0<strong>forbidden from making funds available<\/strong>\u00a0to the listed individuals and entities. The Iran human rights sanctions regime also includes a\u00a0<strong>ban on exports<\/strong>\u00a0to Iran\u00a0<strong>of equipment<\/strong>\u00a0which might be used for\u00a0<strong>internal repression<\/strong>\u00a0and of equipment for\u00a0<strong>monitoring telecommunications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-sanctions-perpetrators-of-serious-human-rights-violations-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/woman-7192851_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-sanctions-perpetrators-of-serious-human-rights-violations-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU sanctions perpetrators of serious human rights violations in Iran<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The list of those subject to EU restrictive measures in the context of the existing Iran human rights sanctions regime now comprises a\u00a0<strong>total of 126 individuals and 11 entities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Union and its member states condemn the continued widespread and disproportionate use of force against peaceful protestors. This is unjustifiable and unacceptable. People in Iran, as anywhere else, have the right to peacefully protest and this right must be ensured in all circumstances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU urges Iran to immediately stop the violent crackdown against peaceful protesters, to free those detained, and to ensure the free flow of information, including internet access. Furthermore, the EU urges Iran to clarify the number of deaths and arrested, to hold those responsible accountable and provide due process to all detainees.
