These actions clearly breach the United Nations Charter and international law and go diametrically against the rule of law among nations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These sham referenda initiated today by Russia and its proxies have no legal effect or legitimacy, as demonstrated by Russia\u2019s hasty methods of organisation, which in no way respect democratic norms, and its blatant intimidation of local populations. These referenda in areas that have been forcibly put under Russia\u2019s temporary control in no way represent a legitimate expression of the will of the Ukrainian people, who have consistently resisted Russian efforts to change borders by force. We will never recognise these referenda which appear to be a step toward Russian annexation and we will never recognise a purported annexation if it occurs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, we deplore deliberate Russian escalatory steps, including the partial mobilisation of reservists and irresponsible nuclear rhetoric.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/russias-aggression-against-ukraine-the-eu-targets-additional-54-individuals-and-10-entities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/fly-d-CPgq602i-A-unsplash-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/russias-aggression-against-ukraine-the-eu-targets-additional-54-individuals-and-10-entities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia\u2019s aggression against Ukraine: the EU targets additional 54 individuals and 10 entities<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We call upon all countries to unequivocally reject these sham referenda as Russia\u2019s attempt to give false cover to its violations of international law. We stand ready to impose further economic costs on Russia, and on individuals and entities \u2013 inside and outside of Russia \u2013 providing political or economic support for Russia\u2019s illegal attempts to change the status of Ukrainian territory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are steadfast in our commitment to providing the support Ukraine needs to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity, to defend itself, and to choose its own future.
