Participants in the programme receive outstanding financial support as well as training and mentoring to allow them to develop their full potential.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/astro.univie.ac.at\/en\/\">Department of Astrophysics<\/a>\u00a0is offering a Moritz Schlick position (4+2 years) in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dynamics.univie.ac.at\/\">Dynamics of Stellar Systems<\/a>\u00a0research group of Prof. Glenn van de Ven.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We seek an outstanding candidate to take a leading role in our research team in developing and applying novel techniques to state-of-the art photometric and spectroscopic observations of nearby galaxies to uncover their formation history. In particular, you will be part of the Vienna core team in charge of our pioneering code for orbital modelling of stellar systems which today is publicly released under the name\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.univie.ac.at\/dynamics\/dynamite_docs\/index.html\">DYNAMITE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We offer a stimulating research environment with staff working in various areas of astrophysics. Our team has privileged access to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vsc.ac.at\/\">Vienna Scientific Cluster<\/a>\u00a0super- computing facility. As a member state of ESO and ESA, Austria has access to their first- class observing facilities. A one-time\u00a0<strong>\u20ac75,000 research fund<\/strong>\u00a0will be made available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should have a Doctoral\/PhD degree in astronomy or astrophysics with affinity for programming, or in computer science or applied mathematics with affinity for astronomy. Excellent communication and very good programming skills in English are required, while expertise in dynamical modelling and stellar spectroscopy are assets. Participation in teaching and supervision of students is requested, while very good organizational skills are highly desirable.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Skills<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Required qualifications are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Doctoral\/PhD degree in astronomy or astrophysics with affinity for programming, or in computer science\/applied mathematics with affinity for astronomy\/astrophysics<\/li>\n<li>Excellent command of written and spoken English<\/li>\n<li>Excellent abilities to work in a team and to express yourself<\/li>\n<li>Very good programming skills<\/li>\n<li>Main-author publications in renowned subject-relevant media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Further desirable qualifications are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Very good organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience in teaching and training<\/li>\n<li>Experience in (co-)supervising students<\/li>\n<li>Experience in (co-)organising events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"field-label\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Specific Requirements<\/h3>\n<div class=\"longtext field-specific-requirements\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The position will involve the extension and synergy of our Schwarzschild orbit-superposition and discrete chemo-dynamical numerical codes.
