This confirms the joint commitment to take all necessary steps towards the adoption of the legislative proposals related to asylum and migration management before the end of the 2019-2024 legislative period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pact offers the comprehensive approach needed to manage migration in an effective and humane way. \u00a0It is important that we now have a clear way ahead with a timetable for negotiations between co-legislators starting at the latest by the end of 2022 and being concluded by February 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission will continue lending its full support to the European Parliament and to the Czech and upcoming Presidencies of the Council towards making progress on the negotiations.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/la-ue-y-el-acnudh-debaten-la-cooperacion-en-el-dialogo-estrategico-sobre-derechos-humanos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-and-ohchr-discuss-cooperation-at-strategic-dialogue-on-human-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU and OHCHR discuss cooperation at Strategic Dialogue on Human Rights<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 class=\"ecl-page-header__title\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pact on Migration and Asylum<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 23 September 2020, the Commission presented a New Pact on Migration and Asylum, setting out a fairer, more European approach to managing migration and asylum. It aims to put in place a comprehensive and sustainable policy, providing a humane and effective long-term response to the current challenges of irregular migration, developing legal migration pathways, better integrating refugees and other newcomers, and deepening migration partnerships with countries of origin and transit for mutual benefit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new governance mechanism will ensure fairer division of responsibilities and effective solidarity between Member States, with national migration management systems increasingly integrated into a European whole.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Building on progress made since 2016, the Pact seeks to build a complete system by providing essential new tools for faster and more integrated procedures, a better management of Schengen and borders and for flexibility and crisis resilience.
