As such, the indicators capture progress towards environmental wellbeing, including also economic and social aspects. As such, they could pave the way for measuring the health of our economies and societies based on wellbeing, and beyond the most well-known economic indicator, GDP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The headline indicators follow the structure of the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Environment Action Programme building on the European Green Deal<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and include the 2-3 most policy relevant and statistically robust indicators for each of the thematic\u00a0<strong>priority objectives<\/strong>\u00a0to 2030, covering climate mitigation, climate adaptation, circular economy, zero pollution, and biodiversity.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/february-infringements-package-key-decisions-related-to-spain-and-environmental-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/guillaume-perigois-0NRkVddA2fw-unsplash-1-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/february-infringements-package-key-decisions-related-to-spain-and-environmental-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February infringements package: key decisions related to Spain and Environmental matters<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the list includes five indicators to measure progress towards addressing the main\u00a0<strong>environmental and climate pressures<\/strong>. In line with European Green Deal objectives, this covers the transition we need to see in the coming years towards sustainable systems for energy, industry, mobility and food.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Moreover, the headline set includes indicators to monitor progress towards the main\u00a0<strong>enabling conditions<\/strong>, covering sustainable finance, the \u2018polluters-pay principle&#8217;, and phasing out environmentally harmful subsidies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The last chapter of the monitoring framework includes systemic indicators that aim to capture\u00a0<strong>progress towards the three dimensions of environmental wellbeing<\/strong>, to cover also economic and social aspects beyond nature protection.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/state-aid-for-climate-environmental-protection-and-energy-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/news_renewables_gd_1000x557.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/state-aid-for-climate-environmental-protection-and-energy-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State aid for climate, environmental protection and energy 2022<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Next steps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission will\u00a0<strong>report annually on the progress made<\/strong>, based on stocktaking done by the European Environment Agency\u00a0<strong>from 2023 onwards<\/strong>, with the help of the selected headline indicators.
