Also listed are high ranking\u00a0<strong>military<\/strong>\u00a0leaders and staff, politicians appointed in Ukrainian territories invaded by Russia, members of the\u00a0<strong>Nightwolves<\/strong>, a nationalist motorcycle club,\u00a0<strong>propagandists<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0leading businesspersons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The sanctioned entities include\u00a0<strong>Sberbank<\/strong>, a major financial institution, the\u00a0<strong>Nightwolves<\/strong>, companies operating in the\u00a0<strong>military sector<\/strong>\u00a0or the\u00a0<strong>shipbuilding industry or involved in the stealing of Ukrainian grain<\/strong>, and a variety of entities that have\u00a0<strong>disseminated pro-Kremlin and anti-Ukrainian propaganda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In view of the fact that the Syrian regime provides support -including military support &#8211; to Russia&#8217;s unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine, the Council decided to also list six individuals and one entity involved in the\u00a0<strong>recruitment of Syrian mercenaries to fight in Ukraine<\/strong>\u00a0alongside Russian troops.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Altogether, EU restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine now apply to a total of\u00a0<strong>1212 individuals and 108 entities<\/strong>. Those designated are subject to an\u00a0<strong>asset freeze<\/strong>\u00a0and EU citizens and companies are\u00a0<strong>forbidden from making funds available<\/strong>\u00a0to them. Natural persons are additionally subject to a\u00a0<strong>travel ban<\/strong>, which prevents them from entering or transiting through EU territories.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-adopts-new-measures-against-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Ucrania-guerra-768x433.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/eu-adopts-new-measures-against-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU adopts new measures against Russia<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to hold the Syrian regime fully accountable for its role in Ukraine, the Council is also listing additional four persons and one entity within a\u00a0<strong>separate<\/strong>\u00a0sanctions regime concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria (Council Decision 2013\/255\/CFSP). These include a high rank military official involved in the recruitment of Syrian mercenaries to fight in Ukraine alongside Russia, persons benefiting from or supporting the regime, and leading businessperson operating in Syria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU firmly stands with Ukraine and will continue to provide strong support for Ukraine\u2019s overall economic, military, social and financial resilience, including humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU resolutely condemns Russia\u2019s indiscriminate attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, and urges Russia to immediately and unconditionally withdraw all its troops and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders. International humanitarian law, including on the treatment of prisoners of war, must be respected. Ukrainians, notably children, who have been forcibly removed to Russia must be immediately allowed to return safely.
