This step is part of the 2022 European Semester programme, which enables member states to coordinate their economic, employment and fiscal policies.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Next steps<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Council is expected to endorse the country-specific recommendations at its meeting on 24 June.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After that, the Council can proceed with the formal adoptions, which conclude the final stage of the 2022 European Semester process.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/recovery-plans-meps-push-for-wise-use-of-money-democratic-oversight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/20220614PHT33010-cl.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/recovery-plans-meps-push-for-wise-use-of-money-democratic-oversight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Recovery plans: MEPs push for wise use of money, democratic oversight<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Background<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Introduced in 2010, the European Semester enables the EU member states to coordinate their economic, fiscal and employment policies throughout the year and address the economic challenges facing the EU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission assesses EU governments&#8217; economic policies and budgetary strategies, based on national reform programmes and stability or convergence programmes provided each year in April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On this basis, the Commission presents each country with a set of draft country-specific recommendations (CSRs) providing policy guidance on how to boost jobs and growth, while maintaining sound public finances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Council then adopts country-specific recommendations (CSRs) and opinions.
