The dialogue wasco-chaired by Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Eamon Gilmore, EU Special Representative for Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-109714 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-1024x679.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-768x509.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-1536x1019.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/human-rights-2048x1358.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The meeting took stock of\u00a0progress on\u00a0joint EU \u2013 OHCHR initiatives since the previous\u00a0Strategic\u00a0Dialogue in October 2021. This includes\u00a0experts\u2019 exchanges\u00a0and\u00a0joint\u00a0events\u00a0in the areas of climate\u00a0change, migration, and human rights in the digital sphere.\u00a0The EU reaffirmed its full support for the independent and impartial mandate of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p>The Strategic Dialogue\u00a0also\u00a0covered geographic developments and\u00a0specific\u00a0country situations.\u00a0At a\u00a0time of unprecedented\u00a0challenges\u00a0to\u00a0peace, people\u00a0and planet,\u00a0the\u00a0Dialogueconsidered\u00a0the impact of\u00a0overlapping\u00a0crises\u00a0on human rightsand the\u00a0international human rights\u00a0system.\u00a0It\u00a0focused on the\u00a0urgent need\u00a0to strengthen\u00a0multilateral action\u00a0with\u00a0the core objective of protecting people and\u00a0putting\u00a0their rights first.\u00a0The EU and the OHCHR emphasised that upholding human rights is the best\u00a0way of\u00a0preventing\u00a0conflict and violence and that there can be no lasting peace and stability when widespread human rights violations and abuses occur.\u00a0OHCHR and the EU\u00a0affirmed\u00a0the importance of accountability for all perpetrators of violations of human rights and humanitarian law.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-decides-to-register-good-clothes-fair-pay-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/shoes-g91bc8db15_1920-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-decides-to-register-good-clothes-fair-pay-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission decides to register \u2018Good Clothes, Fair Pay&#8217; initiative<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming\u00a0the role\u00a0played by\u00a0the international human rights mechanisms\u00a0in preventing and addressing\u00a0threats to\u00a0peace and security and\u00a0the\u00a0enjoyment of\u00a0human rights,\u00a0OHCHR and the EU\u00a0discussed how to\u00a0intensify cooperation in promoting follow-up to the work and recommendations of such mechanisms,\u00a0either bilaterally or through the UN system.<\/p>\n<p>Both organisations also\u00a0agreed on the need to promote\u00a0compliance\u00a0with\u00a0international human rights\u00a0law\u00a0and humanitarian law\u00a0in engaging\u00a0with security and defence forces, and discussed respective practices and experience, including the development of due diligence policies.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-eurostat-publishes-2022-report-on-sustainable-development-goals-in-the-european-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/wind-power-plant-5239642_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/commission-eurostat-publishes-2022-report-on-sustainable-development-goals-in-the-european-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission (Eurostat) publishes 2022 report on Sustainable Development Goals in the European Union<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>OHCHR and the EU\u00a0further\u00a0agreed\u00a0to\u00a0accelerate\u00a0action, through mutual cooperation,\u00a0for\u00a0racial\u00a0justice and gender\u00a0equality.
