{"id":107916,"date":"2022-05-24T12:20:40","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T10:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=107916"},"modified":"2022-05-24T12:40:34","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T10:40:34","slug":"winners-of-the-eu4ocean-in-action-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/winners-of-the-eu4ocean-in-action-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of the \u201cEU4Ocean in Action\u201d Awards !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After more than 2 years of cooperation, the EU4Ocean coalition honours the initiatives that best reflect the spirit and principles of the EU4Ocean coalition, and that have mobilised very diverse representatives of the Coalition&#8217;s various communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-107925\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-1280x720.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/EU4Ocean-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On May 20th, Charlina VITCHEVA, Director-General of the Directorate-General \u201cMaritime Affairs and Fisheries\u201d (MARE), awarded 6 winners among the 45 wonderful projects that were submitted last month.<\/p>\n<p>Three main winners were chosen in the categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Navy Blue<\/strong> (1st prize),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Classic Blue<\/strong> (2nd prize)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sky Blue<\/strong> (3rd prize)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three \u201cSpecial mention\u201d awards were also given for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best professional organisation<\/strong> initiative,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Best youth<\/strong> initiative,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Best education &amp; school<\/strong> initiative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winners of the awards were selected by a Jury chaired by the European Commission&#8217;s Directorate General MARE, including the chairs of the EU4Ocean Coalition, municipalities and IOC UNESCO, based on several selection criteria and taking into account the results of the public (online) voting.<\/p>\n<p>Selected projects have supported social learning and critical thinking, had a strong innovative character, a collective dimension, a focus on the EU, and potential for replication.<\/p>\n<p>The trophy was handmade by the young Spanish artist <strong>Annick Galimont<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/ficha\/estudio-de-viabilidad-de-un-observatorio-de-economia-azul-y-cuentas-satelite-del-mar-para-la-union-europea-resumen-ejecutivo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Estudio-de-viabilidad-de-un-observatorio-de-economia-azul-y-cuentas-satelite-del-mar-para-la-Union-Europea.-Resumen-ejecutivo.-212x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/ficha\/estudio-de-viabilidad-de-un-observatorio-de-economia-azul-y-cuentas-satelite-del-mar-para-la-union-europea-resumen-ejecutivo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Estudio de viabilidad de un observatorio de econom\u00eda azul y cuentas sat\u00e9lite del mar para la Uni\u00f3n Europea. Resumen ejecutivo.<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>1st prize | Navy Blue<\/h3>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluegeneration.org\">BlueGeneration<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Sea Teach Spain, Silja Teege<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">The main objective of the BlueGeneration Project is to\u00a0<b>inspire and engage youth<\/b>\u00a0between 15 and 30 years old\u00a0<b>to pursue a sustainable career<\/b>\u00a0in one of the Blue Economy growth sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">The BlueGeneration project has developed a programme that\u00a0<b>trains youth workers to become knowledgeable promoters\u00a0<\/b>and mentors of opportunities in the Blue Economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">These mentors are meant to<b>\u00a0present Blue Career options<\/b>\u00a0in high schools, adult education centres, NGOs, unemployment services and local associations and to\u00a0<b>guide the interested youth\u00a0<\/b>to suitable employment and training in the Blue Economy<b>\u00a0through personal mentoring<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">The BlueGeneration project has produced a\u00a0<b>Blue Economy MOOC, a Blue Career Guide and a Blue Career Job Platform<\/b>\u00a0which all support the aim of bringing youths into the Blue Economy. The project is currently producing and adding\u00a0<b>Virtual Reality videos of all Blue Economy sub-sectors<\/b>\u00a0and live\/recorded\u00a0<b>webinars<\/b>\u00a0to its activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2nd prize | Classic Blue<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mumamilazzo.com\/\">MUMA Museo<\/a> del Mar Milazzo, MuMa Museo del Mare Milazzo ONLUS, Italia, Carmelo Isgr\u00f2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MuMa Milazzo Sea Museum, located in the Castle of Milazzo, invites its visitors on a spiritual journey to rediscover and reignite the harmony between man and the sea through science and art. MuMa had its origin in the moving and tragic story of a sperm whale, renamed &#8220;Siso&#8221;, that died in the waters of the Aeolian Islands in the summer of 2017 due to an illegal fishing net; the biologist Carmelo Isgr\u00f2 recovered the bones and reconstructed the skeleton, creating a museum around the cetacean.<\/p>\n<h3>3rd prize | <a href=\"https:\/\/todaywehave.com\/contest.html\">Sky Blue<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>I live by the sea, Izabela Kotynska-Zielinska, Today We Have, Poland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">We all live by the sea.<b>\u00a0No matter how far from the sea you live &#8211;\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0next to the beach or far away in the mountains &#8211;\u00a0<b><u>you still have a great impact on it<\/u><\/b>. And it is up to you whether you create a positive relationship with the sea or have an adverse impact on it. We believe that\u00a0<b>educating people\u00a0<\/b>about the importance and the beauty of marine environments is the key to creating positive attitudes towards the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">The idea behind this project involves a<b>\u00a0<u>worldwide contest<\/u><\/b>\u00a0for\u00a0<b>young people up to the age of 21<\/b>. In the Contest we expect the participants to\u00a0<b><u>present a story of \u201ctheir sea\u201d\u00a0<\/u><\/b>through<b><u>\u00a0visual art<\/u><\/b>.
