Organised by the European Commission every year, it is an occasion to celebrate best practices in Vocational Education and Training (VET), bringing together everyone involved \u2013 from local, to national and regional authorities, students, teachers and education and training organisation stakeholders \u2013 to showcase the benefits VET offers to young people and adults alike. This year&#8217;s sixth edition focuses on \u2018VET and the Green Transition&#8217;, supporting people to acquire the necessary skills for the green transition, in line with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/priorities-2019-2024\/european-green-deal_en\">European Green Deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-107706\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/FP-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/vocational-skills-week\/awards_en\">VET Excellence Awards<\/a>\u00a0ceremony yesterday, the Commission announced the winners of this flagship prize in different categories. An accountancy apprentice from Greece, the Piedmont Region in Italy, and a Swedish tree care programme have received the European Vocational Skills Week Excellence Award 2022, along with 9 other award winners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year&#8217;s winners<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Commission awarded\u00a0<strong>12 prizes in four categories and one special mention<\/strong>\u00a0to apprentices, projects, companies and regions, from the EU, neighbouring and neighbourhood countries, who have successfully used VET to build a greener, more digital and more inclusive society.<\/p>\n<p>The award winners include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Evangelos Pouftas<\/strong>, an apprentice with an accountancy firm\u00a0<strong>in Greece<\/strong>, who demonstrated the key role of apprentices in accelerating the digital transition of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), by helping the company&#8217;s clients to digitalise their work, such as setting up online services to remain competitive, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and increased remote working.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Piedmont Region of Italy<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>with the support of the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/european-social-fund-plus\/en\">European Social Fund<\/a>, promoted to young learners a culture of sustainability in food production and consumption along the agri-food chain.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>\u2018Veteran Tree Management Skills Certification&#8217; project<\/strong>\u00a0of Stiftelsen Pro Natura.
