The strategy aims to put Europe&#8217;s biodiversity on a path to recovery by 2030, and contains specific actions and commitments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><iframe id=\"videoplayer\" title=\"The 2030 EU Biodiversity Strategy\" src=\"https:\/\/audiovisual.ec.europa.eu\/embed\/index.html?ref=I-191439&amp;lg=EN\" width=\"852\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Objectives<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The biodiversity strategy aims to put Europe\u2019s biodiversity on the path to recovery by 2030 for the benefit of people, climate and the planet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the post-COVID-19 context, the strategy aims to build our societies\u2019 resilience to future threats such as<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>the impacts of climate change<\/li>\n<li>forest fires<\/li>\n<li>food insecurity<\/li>\n<li>disease outbreaks &#8211; including by protecting wildlife and fighting illegal wildlife trade\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-2xl\">\n<div class=\"ecl\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/ficha\/support-to-the-evaluation-of-the-eu-biodiversity-strategy-to-2020-and-follow-up-final-evaluation-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/sup-212x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"109\" height=\"154\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/ficha\/support-to-the-evaluation-of-the-eu-biodiversity-strategy-to-2020-and-follow-up-final-evaluation-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Support to the Evaluation of the EU biodiversity strategy to 2020, and follow-up. Final evaluation report<br \/>\n<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 id=\"medidas\" class=\"ecl-u-type-heading-2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Actions<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The strategy contains specific commitments and actions to be delivered by 2030.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Establishing a larger\u00a0EU-wide network of protected areas on land and at sea<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU will enlarge existing Natura 2000 areas, with strict protection for areas of very high biodiversity and climate value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Launching an\u00a0EU nature restoration plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through concrete commitments and actions, the EU aims to restore degraded ecosystems by 2030 and manage them sustainably, addressing the key drivers of biodiversity loss.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of this plan, the Commission will propose binding\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/strategy\/biodiversity-strategy-2030\/eu-nature-restoration-targets_en\">nature restoration targets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introducing measures to<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>enable the necessary transformative change<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The strategy highlights unlocking funding for biodiversity, and setting in motion a new, strengthened governance framework to<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>ensure better implementation and track progress<\/li>\n<li>improve knowledge, financing and investments<\/li>\n<li>better respecting nature in public and business decision-making<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introducing measures to tackle the<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>global biodiversity challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-2xl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<div class=\"ecl-u-mb-2xl\">\n<div class=\"ecl\">\n<p>These measures will demonstrate that the EU is ready to lead by example to address the global biodiversity crisis.
