\"Main<\/a><\/h3>\n

Western Balkans<\/h3>\n

During a working lunch EU Foreign Affairs Ministers were joined by their counterparts from the six Western Balkans partners, and discussed the future of the region on its path to the European Union.<\/p>\n

The Council welcomed the choice of those partners who aligned fully with the\u00a0EU’s foreign policy and sanctions<\/strong>, and expressed its clear expectation that all partners in the region, especially candidate countries, commit to European values and the European foreign policy.<\/p>\n

Ministers also called on Western Balkans partners to think and act more strategically when it comes to their\u00a0domestic problems<\/strong>, reforms and solving open bilateral issues.<\/p>\n

The Council discussed the situation in\u00a0Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/strong>, and reiterated the EU’s commitment to its EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country. Rolling back reforms and dismantling state institutions are incompatible with a European perspective and unacceptable.<\/p>\n

On the\u00a0Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue<\/strong> ministers reiterated their expectations about the full respect and implementation of all previous agreements, and a progressive normalisation of the relations between Serbia and Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EU-US Relations : Strengthening Trade and Technology<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Russian aggression against Ukraine<\/h3>\n

The Foreign Affairs Council discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and focused on the latest developments on the ground and on the strands of EU action. In particular, ministers discussed\u00a0EU support to Ukraine<\/strong>,\u00a0diplomatic outreach<\/strong>,\u00a0deterrence<\/strong>\u00a0measures,\u00a0Russian information manipulation<\/strong>\u00a0and interference activities, and efforts to ensure\u00a0accountability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine\u00a0Dmytro Kuleba<\/strong>. and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada\u00a0M\u00e9lanie Joly<\/strong> also joined the discussion.<\/p>\n

Ministers considered the proposal to provide an additional \u20ac500 million from the\u00a0European Peace Facility<\/strong>\u00a0for the delivery of weapons to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Ministers also considered how to support Ukraine\u2019s economy through\u00a0trade liberalisation<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0transport facilitation measures<\/strong>. Through the recent adoption of an EU action plan for EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, the EU is already helping Ukraine to keep producing and exporting grains and wheat worldwide.<\/p>\n

The Council touched on the issue of\u00a0Russian information manipulation<\/strong>\u00a0and its attempt to shift the blame for the growing worldwide impact of its aggression not only to Ukraine, but also to the EU and the West in general. The Council categorically rejected Russia\u2019s narrative and will continue to counter it. Energy and food shortages as well as price increases are the result of Russia\u2019s unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression.<\/p>\n

Alongside the G7, the G20 and the FAO, the EU is working towards mitigating the negative effects of Russia\u2019s aggression, and securing food supply to all countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Affairs<\/h3>\n

The High Representative informed the Council about his recent mission to\u00a0Latin America<\/strong>, where he met leaders in Chile and in Panama.<\/p>\n

He also provided an update on\u00a0EU financial support to Palestine<\/strong>, as a follow-up to the April FAC meeting.<\/p>\n

The Council was also informed about the situation in\u00a0Ethiopia<\/strong>, the ongoing tensions in the\u00a0Eastern Mediterranean<\/strong>, and the state of the\u00a0NATO applications<\/strong>\u00a0of two EU member states.<\/p>\n

Council conclusions<\/h3>\n

The Council approved conclusions on an EU Strategic Approach in support of\u00a0Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration of Former Combatants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Equivalence of field inspections and of certain seed produced in Bolivia\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Ministers\u00a0adopted<\/strong>\u00a0the Commission\u2019s proposal for\u00a0granting equivalence to the production and field inspections\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0cereal seed-producing crops<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0oil and fibre plant seed-producing crops in Bolivia.<\/strong>The Council\u2019s approval will add Bolivia to the list of third countries whose seed certification system \u00a0is recognised as equivalent to the EU’s, allowing imports of sorghum, maize and sunflower seed from Bolivia to the EU market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
